Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder with Severe Psychiatric Comorbidities

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

OCD is a disorder marked by intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors aimed to reduce the negative affect associated with these thoughts. Although there is a large evidence-base for the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy with exposure and response prevention (ERP) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) to treat OCD, various psychiatric comorbidities complicate the implementation of such standard interventions. The presenters will review OCD treatment and the complications that arise from psychiatric comorbidity – specifically, comorbid diagnoses of Bipolar Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Tourette's Disorder will be discussed.
