23rd Annual OCD Conference

Patients with OCD who are also on the Autism Spectrum face unique difficulties in treatment that often necessitate altering traditional CBT methods and approaches. This talk will address the challenges, complications, and strategies of working with these individuals and their families. Case examples, role plays, and structured approaches will engage and encourage participants (clinicians, families, and patients) to think outside of the OCD box. Participants will learn ways to conceptualize and address functional problems and goals, develop techniques to improve anxiety and social skills, and learn to identify and address important treatment pitfalls and difficulties. By incorporating these elements into a CBT protocol, treatment can be tailored to address the complex array of symptoms often seen with these patients.
