When Food Is The Enemy: ERP For A Variety Of Disordered Eating Habits

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

During this session, presenters who have worked with both OCD & eating disorders (ED) will share insights and case examples about how to use ERP to treat disordered eating, whether it's OCD with ritualized food/eating issues, sensory/spectrum-related rigid eating, “scrupulosity”-driven diets, or traditional eating disorder concerns.  Additionally, our nutritionist will discuss the dietary needs patients have and how nutritional planning would be applied depending on the diagnosis, as well as how nutritionists and therapists can work together to create separate but related food and non-food hierarchies. Though different disorders, both are treated by directly addressing the triggers and feared situations so that clients can move forward and learn to handle their discomfort, no “trigger warnings” necessary.
