Dr. Abramowitz is Professor and Associate Chair of Psychology, Research Professor of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina (UNC), and Director of the UNC Anxiety and Stress Disorders Clinic. Dr. Abramowitz has published over 250 research articles, books, and book chapters and he is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders. Dr. Abramowitz is a member of the Foundation’s Scientific and Clinical Advisory Board and a past president of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). His service and contributions to the field have been recognized through awards from the Mayo Clinic Department of Psychiatry and Psychology, Division 12 of the American Psychological Association, the National Institute of Mental health, and the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation. Dr. Abramowitz’ special clinical interests include the use of exposure therapy for obsessions, scrupulosity (religious OCD symptoms), postpartum OCD, integrating ACT with exposure therapy, and inhibitory learning approaches to exposure therapy.
